Our local parks and rec hosts an annual Easter Egg Hunt. We went two years ago, but missed last year because we were in Escanaba for Easter. I was excited to take the kids to hunt for eggs. They were both up 6:45 am (I'm not a fan of this new wake up time). We ate breakfast, played and then got ready to go. Erin was ready and so excited to meet the Easter Bunny. Will on the other hand wanted nothing to do with getting ready (hence the messy hairstyles). After a little help from me, we were loaded up and ready to go.
We got to the park and found our egg hunting area. Before the hunt started, we had to go and see the bunny. Erin was so excited and ran up and gave him a huge hug.
We went back to our area and waited to start. Will didn't want to hunt but Erin did, until it was actually time to start digging for eggs. She just stood there and then came to me and said she didn't want to look for eggs. I think there were too many kids in the area. So we went to see the bunny again. Erin was giddy with excitement as we waited for her turn. She ran right up to him and gave him another huge hug. Will sat in the stroller and didn't want to get out.
Then we went to the fire truck which Will wanted to climb on but Erin just stayed with me. Will posed for a few pictures and showed off his new cheesy smile (how did he learn that?).
Once the hunting areas cleared out, the kids decided that they wanted to look for eggs. Great idea except that they were all gone. Erin did find one piece of candy and Will couldn't find any. Thankfully for Will I had a pack of gum in my pocket and may have accidentally dropped a piece on the ground for him to find. He was very excited for gum because he doesn't get it very often. A nice boy saw that W & E didn't have any candy so he gave each of them a sucker.
We walked over to the park to play for a little while.
On our way back to the van, we saw the bucket loader that was coming to move all of the hay from the hunt. Will was so excited and HAD to stop to look at it (and get a few pictures in front of it).
Even though we didn't come home with candy and didn't find any eggs, Will and Erin reminded me that it's more about the experience than what you get. They had a lot of fun and that's what's important.
