Mark's birthday is on New Year's Day which means we celebrate it on New Year's Eve. It is tradition for someone from the Caswell crew to head to the Copemish Secondhand Store to purchase Mark's birthday presents. They always involve some sort of 'outfit' for the night. As Mark is presented with his gifts, there is always a story and presentation. This years 'theme' was that Mark wanted to get back into doing triathlons (hence the swimsuit). Everyone has a lot of laughs and Mark enjoys the thoughtfulness that goes into the gifts. 
Everyone heads to the base of the hill to watch the Torch Light Parade. Because he is the birthday boy, Mark leads the parade. There are hundreds of people at the base of the hill who watch the parade. At midnight, there is an awesome fireworks display! We celebrate with cheap champagne, hugs and singing Happy Birthday to Mark. Before we know it, the kids will be at the hill with us to ring in the New Year. But this year, they were back at the house with a babysitter. I kept thinking back to last year when I wasn't feeling well, but made it to the hill anyways. Little did I know, Will and Erin would join this world only eighteen short days later.
