Walking on Water

We've had an incredible winter this year.  Right now over 80% of the Great Lakes are frozen. We went to Grand Haven this afternoon to see for ourselves what a frozen Lake Michigan looks like.  It was so strange to be walking where we usually swim.  There were hundreds of people out there checking everything out too.  Will and Erin had fun walking, crawling, sliding, and sledding all over the ice/snow.  We spent 1.5 hours playing in all of the snow and on the ice.  It was fun to take pictures standing in the channel and seeing the lighthouse from a different perspective.  We  had to take the kids because some day we'll be talking about the Winter of 2014 and reminiscing about the time we walked on Lake Michigan.

Will decided that he would start to tackle Erin. She usually likes to play the 'tackle game' but not this time.

Mark was searching for water. He did find a few places (and I stepped in one) where the ice wasn't very thick.

The kids kept crawling in the 'tunnels' along the break wall. Then Erin became scared of the monster (daddy) because he was going to get us.  She invented a game about staying away from the monster.

Hey look, there's the beach!!
