Happy 35th Birthday Mark!

Mark's birthday is on New Year's Day. In the 13 years I've known Mark, we've never had a birthday party for him on his actual birthday.  This was the perfect year to do it because Michigan State was playing Stanford in the 100th Rose Bowl. We set up our house for the party before we left for Crystal Mountain. Our awesome friends (Gravelyn, Reid, Zemaitis, Armock, Beagle, Hobart and Danks) each brought a dish to pass and I planned on ordering pizza. We ate so many munchies that no one really wanted pizza so we didn't get any.  The adults enjoyed Bloody Mary's and cheered the Spartans on to their first Rose Bowl win in 26 years.
All of the kids played downstairs (except Baby Austin who spent time cuddling with everyone) and only came upstairs when they got hungry.  I was so glad that we were able to celebrate Mark. He's always doing so many wonderful things for all of us it was nice to give him his special day.

Mark is an awesome daddy, husband, friend, son, employee and athlete.  He has lost 55 lbs since last January. He's signed up to compete in a half Ironman (swim 1.2 miles, bike 70 miles? and run 13.1 miles) in Kansas City on June 8.  Mark is filled with crazy
ideas (like his snow maker , Bocce Ball tournament and backyard movie nights) that keep us all having fun.  Our lives would be boring without him! We love you and can't wait to see what this year brings for you!

Thank you to Val for making her family secret carrot cake recipe for Mark! It was delicious and I appreciated not having to worry about making the cake.

Renee, Paul, Will, Erin and Sparty on our front porch!
